James Mark

I am a teacher-trainer working with with overseas students and international managers. The discovery of other cultures is an enriching part of this profession where the personal element is as important as the professional.

I lived and worked in France for 11 years,  most of the time as a business English teacher, but latterly as pastor of a French evangelical church on the River Doubs, near Swiss border. The Jura is a beautiful region and along with other parts of France and Switzerland, will probably be the inspiration for my first articles.

I have had the enormous privilege of living in some very picturesque places such as Durham, which is my home town, Berwick upon Tweed, Abergavenny in Wales, Whitby in North Yorkshire, Compiègne (50 miles north of Paris), Franche-Comté in France and now York, back in old England.

I maintain a photo blog in the CityDailyPhoto group:

but had to abandon this one :

after moving 50 miles to York. Jorvik is the Viking name for York.
